Al Davis has been supporting and growing the WordPress community in Canada for years. He recently launched WPTeach— a website for all things WordPress. WPTeach provides news, tutorials, reviews and interviews covering a wide range of user abilities. He’s also organized past WordCamps, and sponsored many others. Al is truly a leader in the WordPress world.

DALE MUGFORD

Dale is our emcee for the day, and is President & Co-Founder of BraveNewCode, a WordPress plugin company. For over 15 years, he’s designed websites built on WordPress before co-founding BraveNewCode with Duane, and creating WPtouch, WordTwit, Piggy & other popular WordPress plugins. Combined, BraveNewCode’s plugins have been downloaded a whopping 5.7 million times, and they have customers in over 100 countries worldwide.

JOEY COLEMAN

An independent journalist/blogger, Joey Coleman advocates for open data and runs Canada’s first crownfunded-only news outlet. Joey’s journalism experience includes Maclean’s Magazine as a reporter/blogger (he refused to be known just as a reporter) and photographer covering higher education. Joey is passionate about WordPress and leverages it for citizen journalism here in Hamilton.

Our keynote speaker, Kevin Browne stands at the front of the software boom here in Hamilton. As an organizer, advocate, and liaison, Kevin Browne is our foremost activist/evangelist for the tech community here in Hamilton. Kevin is a teacher, PhD Candidate, researcher, and longtime WordPress user.

Kristin Archer of I Heart Hamilton and Seema Narula of This Must Be The Place share a passion for their love of exploration and rediscovery of the city they live in. They have been blogging about Hamilton’s music, art, & food scenes for over two years. They will be discussing how they got their blogs started and how they’ve seen their readership grow. They share tips on using WordPress to start a website, create content, & grow readers & followers.

LAURIE RAUCH

A WordPress-loving Front-End Web Developer, Laurie M. Rauch believes that great user experiences start at the first line of code. Laurie runs Code Diva, where she provides WordPress theme development, customizations, and coaching. She will discuss how to create a child theme, including finding the perfect parent, changing styles, and customizing functionality.

RICHARD RUDY

A type-obsessed Graphic Designer running Design+Awesome and living in Hamilton, Richard is a WordPress lover and will be discussing the current state of taking your WordPress website mobile. He’ll be discussing the themes, tools and services available, plus other tips, tricks and handy info.
